Don’t get me wrong; I love a good burger. But sometimes I just want something lighter, fresher, and homemade, but still satisfying. If you’re the same, this easy turkey burger recipe for burger bowls are about to become your new go-to meal!

Let’s Get Prepped

The only things you’ll need to prep are the burgers, the sauce, and any produce you’re using. After that, just add your favorite burger toppings and go! They’re the perfect balance of healthy and indulgent. Plus, they’re so simple to make, they’ll be a perfect takeout replacement. Read below for the recipe, how I prep this meal for the week, and all the variations you can try!

Step 1: Prep Your Ingredients

turkey burgers, sweet potato fries, pickled red onions, and lettuce in bowls.

This recipe only requires you to prepare two things: the burgers and the sauce. After that, you’ll just have to prep your produce. So simple!

Easy Turkey Burger Recipe: Jalapeno & Red Onion Turkey Burgers

I’ve always been a teensy bit scared of cooking meat, so you would’ve never caught me making homemade meatballs…until I made these and realized just how easy it really is!

If you’re like me and get anxious about under-cooking meat, this simple meat thermometer makes all the difference! It is super easy to use and gives me peace of mind that I’m eating perfectly cooked meat!

With just a package of ground meat and an egg, you can make these turkey burgers any flavor you choose. For the burger feel, I decided to add jalapenos and red onion. Then I just seasoned the rest to taste!

  • 1lb Ground turkey
  • 1 Large Egg
  • 2 Jalapeno peppers, diced
  • Half a red onion, diced
  • 2-4 Garlic cloves, diced
  • Dijon mustard to taste
  • Himalayan Pink Salt (the absolute best!)
  • Black pepper
  • Garlic powder
  • Onion powder

Once you mix the ingredients together in a bowl, form your burgers. I prefer to make smaller ones, so I can get eight burgers out of this recipe! If you want them larger, you could get about four burgers.

I just scoop and roll them into a ball, then add them to a pan with a light layer of olive or avocado oil.

Press them down to flatten, then cook on medium heat until brown and cooked through.

Burger Sauce

This is the quintessential burger sauce that you’ll find at any burger joint, but elevated. It takes this recipe up a notch and really brings home the takeout-feel. I make it all to taste, so measure with your heart!

  • Mayo
  • Ketchup
  • Dijon mustard
  • Sriracha
  • Pickles of choice, diced
  • Himalayan Pink Salt
  • Black pepper
  • Garlic powder

Impact Himalayan pink salt is my favorite seasoning that I use in literally every recipe. It contains trace minerals, so I love knowing that I’m getting more nutritional benefits than when I use regular salt. Plus, it’s pretty and tastes delicious! If you haven’t tried Himalayan pink salt yet, it’s time to make the switch.

Step 2: Assemble Your Turkey Burger Bowls

What I love about this recipe (and why I love meals in a bowl in general), is that it can be super personalized to your tastes!

First, you’ll choose your base. I typically go for a crisp romaine, but you can also opt for spinach , arugula, or kale. If you want something even heartier, go with regular or sweet potatoes, or rice.

Once you have your base, add the burgers. Pro tip: they’re super delicious if you melt some cheddar cheese on top.

Now it’s time for the best part: the toppings! Here is where you can get super creative. I’m a die-hard pickle girl, so I add in a ton of pickled veg. My favorites are my homemade pickled red onions & jalapenos, pickled beets, banana peppers, tomatoes, and my favorite sweet potato fries.

Lastly, drizzle with your homemade burger sauce, and serve! It’s as easy as that.
